Tim Hill, Lead Pastor

Lead - acting or serving as a lead or leader <a lead article>

Pastor - a spiritual overseer; especially : a clergyman serving a local
church or parish

Principal responsibilities include providing oversight for all Sanctuary staff, being the primary (though not sole) teacher for gatherings, casting vision, establishing ethos, equipping leaders, building relationships, and overall spiritual care.

the Tim became flesh::: 6 February, 1967;
the very same date that Jimi Hendrix wrote “Purple Haze.” I share the date with Bob Marley, Babe Ruth, and Ronald Reagan.

location::: Torrance, CA, but raised in Silver City, NM. Along the way, I’ve had stops in Texas, Colorado, and Ohio.

the family thing::: my wife, the amazing Christy Bunting-Hill, our calico cat, Clementine (who has graciously adopted me), our Siberian Husky, Boo, and our Husky/Malaumute mix, Iowa.

how did I get here::: I was a high school band director in TX and NM for nearly 10 years before God turned my entire existence upside-down and sent me into ministry. I’ve spent the better part of the last 4.5 years in worship before God once again turned my existence upside-down and led me to start Sanctuary. If you’d told me in 1999 that I’d be in ministry (much less starting a new church), I’d have asked you what drugs you were taking.

things I really miss doing::: playing tuba in orchestras, wind ensembles, and brass quintets. Conducting music ensembles.

my favorite things::: music, tennis, Mexican food, chocolate, quality time with my wife, Jamaica, good coffee, playing with our “children” Clementine, Boo, and Iowa.

most people don’t know::: In addition to being the Lead Pastor of Sanctuary, I am also a moderator for The OOZE and Seedstories.

most embarrassing moment::: During my high school band days, I had a solo during a halftime show. On this particular night, the field was muddy and slick from raining all day. When I ran up for the solo I slipped, fell, slid through a space in the front line, and came up standing in place, covered in mud. All while wearing a Sousaphone.

the people who have influenced me most are::: my mother (who always believed I could do anything I put my energy to, and supported me as such), Joe Dove, Pastor Dave Wahlstedt, Pastor Bruce Speer, Glenn Hamblen (my high school band director), Dr. Bill Clark (my college band director), Roger McGee, and my lovely wife Christy.
